Grace is undeserved favor–we can’t earn it, but God gives it generously to us. It is by grace of God that we are here today, months away from joining our lives in marriage. He ordered our steps, He made a way for us to meet, and He is who sustains our love and commitment.
When Emily agreed to a long-weekend trip to Merida with her (very) new friend, she hardly expected to meet the man who’d be her future husband. She met Pablo at our church’s, Origen, new campus in Merida. After the service, we chatted for a little while and exchanged Instagram profiles. And, in our minds, that was it. We’d probably never see each other again. But God had other plans.
On May 13th of last year, Pablo officially asked Emily to be his girlfriend, initiating 9 beautiful months of dating. Long-distance made it a challenge, but with monthly visits, sweet gestures and surprises, and a lot of video-call dates, our relationship deepened and our commitment grew. We began dreaming of a lifetime together, all while seeking wise counsel from mentors and praying for God’s direction.
All of this culminated into one of the most special days of our lives (for now), on February 10th, 2024, when Pablo got down on one knee and asked Emily to marry him, surrounded by the stunning mountains of Guadalajara.
